Instead of solutions, ask GROW: Goal-Reality-Options-Will — let person craft his solution.

A 30-min conversation with a report: Goal, Reality, Options, Will — to grow their thinking instead of giving answers.

Before any development conversation, ask yourself: will I ask questions (coaching) or share my experience (mentoring)? Mixing them fails both.

After every powerful question you ask, count a full 7 seconds of silence before speaking again — the deepest answers come after silence, not before it.

When no coach is available, write out answers to GROW questions about yourself, aloud or in writing — leaders need to coach themselves too.
