CRTF Prompt Structure: Context-Role-Task-Format
Write a prompt that gives the AI model precise context, role, task, and expected format.
Goal
Get a high-quality answer from a language model on the first try, avoiding lengthy corrective back-and-forth.
Steps
- Define the actual task in a single verb sentence ("summarize", "draft", "analyze", "compare", "review").
- Add context: who you are, the audience, the background. Don't assume the model knows.
- Explicitly assign the model's role ("Be a marketing expert specialized in the Saudi market").
- Specify output format: word count, bullets vs paragraphs, Arabic vs English, formal vs conversational tone.
- Ask the model to ask for any missing info before writing ("If something is missing, ask me before starting").
- Send the prompt and read the output once before deciding: accept, small tweak, or restructure the prompt.
